Sir Edward “Weary” Dunlop once said:
“The impact of the stress and strain of war upon the physical and mental health of veterans and upon ageing processes is a vital area of research, with ultimately immense application to the community as a whole.”
In taking up this challenge from Weary, the Objectives of the Sir Edward ‘Weary’ Dunlop Medical Research Foundation are to do everything necessary:
- to promote the maintenance and improvement of the medical and health care and general welfare of veterans and their dependants;
- to finance and generally to facilitate medical research and research in related scientific disciplines in the identification, prevention, cure and care of illnesses of all kinds; and
- to commemorate the outstanding qualities of Sir Edward Dunlop in educating contemporary Australia about his high personal standards and his commitment to serving humanity.
